Mortal Shell 2 Shells and Ability Details

Check the Mortal Shell 2 Shells count, beta names and abilities, Harros’s prologue role, and the few routes supported today.

The official site says Mortal Shell II has eight playable Shells. Version-labelled beta entries name eight non-Harros Shells and show Harros separately in the prologue. That is why nine names can appear in early client details without proving nine regular playable choices.

Which Shells are named in the current game version?

The game-build roster lists Tiel, Eredrim, Proxima, Lazlo, Sariel, Smert, Genessa, and Gragu as the eight non-Harros entries. Harros appears separately as the prologue Shell. This roster boundary is important because the official eight-playable count and the nine-name client list describe different things.

The displayed titles are Tiel the Acolyte, Eredrim the Venerable, Proxima the Broodseeker, Lazlo the Justiciar, Sariel the Endless, Smert the Apostate, Genessa the Wayward, Gragu the Insatiable, and Harros the Vassal. These names and titles come from the version-labelled game-build roster and gameplay coverage, while final full-game naming or balance changes are To be confirmed. The page therefore treats Harros separately when counting the roster.

What is Harros’s role?

Harros is the Shell used during the prologue in the Open Beta route. The roster page says published beta coverage treats him as a prologue-only Shell that cannot be equipped after that opening section. His displayed ability is Stone Stun, which petrifies nearby enemies and makes hardened enemies take Break Damage instead of normal damage.

Do not use Harros’s presence in the client to change the official playable count. The official site says eight playable Shells, while the route notes explain that Harros is an additional named prologue entry. Whether the final game lets players equip Harros beyond the prologue is To be confirmed if the full-game build differs.

Where is Tiel found?

The Open Beta route places Tiel, the Acolyte, near his corpse in Mushroom Village. His displayed abilities include Lingering Shadow, which grants Shadow and prepares a Shadow Strike with his dagger, and Shadow Dash, which can grant Shadow and inflict Stagger Damage when a dash is timed before an incoming hit. These descriptions are tied to the Open Beta client.

Mushroom Village is also the route hub for the village key, nearby Tarstones, and the Shrine of Trials. Combining those tasks can reduce repeated trips, but the route description does not prove the final full-game pickup position. Tiel’s full-game location, final abilities, and upgrade requirements are To be confirmed beyond the version-labelled beta route.

What does Proxima do?

Proxima is identified as the Broodseeker in official gameplay details and in the in-game text. Her displayed active ability, Biosampler, fires a hook from her left arm to pull an enemy or herself into range before a follow-up Lightning strike. Her displayed passive, Grafted Armor, can mitigate melee or ranged damage and prevent stagger according to the version-labelled in-game text.

the current game version does not provide a verified pickup route for Proxima. It confirms her name, title, and current game build ability text, but not final full-game stats, unlock conditions, or a complete skill tree. Those route and balance details are To be confirmed.

What are the other listed Shell abilities?

Eredrim’s entry lists Shoulder Bash for Break Damage and Executioner, which can execute low-health enemies and build Slaughterer stacks after Ripostes. Lazlo’s entry lists Retribution, an armor-based Shockwave with Overheat behavior, and Fortified Plate for damage reduction while his armor is active. Sariel’s entry lists Exodus of Thorns and Purge, linking parasitic thorns, Pain, and condition immunity.

Smert’s entry lists Miracle, which halts time and enters a Fight Stance, plus Deadly Revelation at low health. Genessa can summon Faithful Doubles and become Stray rather than being severed when her health is depleted. Gragu’s entry lists Staggering Blow and Revered Heart, which restores part of his health and can be replenished by slaying foes.

These ability names and summaries are useful for comparing playstyles, but they are not a complete tier list. They come from a Open Beta client or gameplay coverage and may change before or after launch. Final numbers, routes, and full-game ability trees are To be confirmed.

How should a new player choose a Shell?

Start with the mechanic you can read consistently rather than an unsupported ranking. Tiel’s ability details emphasize movement and Shadow timing, Proxima combines a hook with Lightning and mitigation, Eredrim emphasizes Break Damage and execution, while Gragu uses a charged punch and replenishing health. The remaining entries also offer distinct systems, but the route does not validate a universal best Shell.

Use the prologue and Open Beta to test movement, Harden, posture pressure, and the way each ability changes an encounter. The official description frames Shells as different warriors with innate abilities and stories, not as a published S-to-C ranking. Any claim that one Shell is definitively strongest, easiest, or best for every boss is To be confirmed.

What locations are confirmed?

The strongest route confirmation is for Harros in the prologue and Tiel in Mushroom Village. The roster page deliberately avoids turning a displayed name or ability into a pickup claim for the other Shells. That boundary prevents an ability entry from being mistaken for a map coordinate.

For exploration, use the version-labelled map checklist and keep each Shell’s route separate from its ability description. If a new full-game build shows another location, record the build and update the page. Until then, only the prologue Harros context and the Open Beta Mushroom Village Tiel route are confirmed by the current version.

How should you read the Shell roster?

The roster answers two different questions. The official game description gives the number of playable Shells, while the beta client snapshot shows how Harros appears in the prologue and how the other named Shell entries are presented. Keeping those contexts separate prevents a client list from becoming an unsupported final count.

The same rule applies to abilities. A displayed name such as Biosampler, Executioner, or Miracle can explain the intended mechanic, but it does not establish the final damage, cooldown, route, or upgrade tree. Use the ability text as a practice guide and the current client as the final check.

What is the safest route plan?

Use Harros for the prologue and the Tiel route through Mushroom Village when following The Open Beta description. Treat Proxima’s Marrow Keep to Shattered Beacon route and Eredrim’s Citadel of Penance route as later community confirmation with their own version boundaries. The remaining Shell routes are not complete in the current version used for this page.

Record each Shell’s name, title, ability text, location, and build separately. Do not transfer a location from one character page to another because the names appear in the same roster. Final routes, stats, full-game ability trees, and any change to the eight-playable count remain To be confirmed.
