Mortal Shell 2 Mushroom Village Key Location Guide

Find the Mortal Shell 2 Mushroom Village Key, also called the Chapel Key, by crossing the rope bridge and revealing the statue near the witches.

8/21/2026 Last updated: 8/21/2026 6 min read

The Mortal Shell 2 Mushroom Village Key is referred to as the Chapel Key in the routes. From the Mushroom Village Beacon, go right and cross the rope bridge toward the area near the witches. Pass through the small arch from the far side to reveal a large statue holding the key.

Why the key has two names

The GamesRadar page uses Chapel Key as its current title and says Mushroom Village Key was an earlier name. The Open Beta discussion also calls it the mushroom village key, which explains why both searches point to the same route. Keep both names on the page so players can match the item shown in older screenshots or client text.

The Open Beta client description says the Chapel Key unlocks the Chapel doors outside Mushroom Village. It does not give the full route, reward, or retail naming policy. Any change to the item name or function is To be confirmed.

Start at the Mushroom Village Beacon

Travel to the Mushroom Village Beacon and move to the right. The route crosses a rope bridge and enters an area where witches gather around a fire. The route recommends defeating the witches first so the search and the arch interaction are easier to perform.

The route does not require an invented coordinate or a special purchase. Follow the visible bridge and keep the Beacon as your return point. If the current build uses a different landmark or places the key elsewhere, that retail difference is To be confirmed.

Reveal the statue with the arch

After entering the area, look for the small arch to the right of the approach. The route says you must pass through the arch from the other side, which changes the area and reveals a large statue that was not visible before. The statue holds the key on a rope.

This arch effect is part of the route logic shown in the route. It is easy to miss if you search only the open ground around the bonfire because the statue appears after the transition. Walk back through the arch only after confirming that the key is visible and collected.

What does the key unlock

The route says the Chapel Key opens the large wooden doors in the Hunter’s area. The Open Beta client text describes Chapel doors outside Mushroom Village, so both records point to a Chapel entrance rather than a generic village gate. The exact room name and final retail door state are To be confirmed.

Inside, the route places the Shrine of Trials and says that completing its challenges leads to a special item. It also associates the area with early Axe and Dagger weapons. The page does not publish every trial, reward, or completion condition, so do not add a reward list without a supporting record.

Do not confuse it with the cage key

The route separates the Chapel Key from the Mushroom Village Cage Key. It says the cage key can be purchased from a nearby trader and opens the cage, while the Chapel Key is found through the statue route. The two keys therefore serve different objects in the same broader area.

The trader route includes a warning that the trader may not remain after leaving. That detail belongs to the cage route and should not be used as the Chapel Key’s pickup condition. The vendor identity, price, and retail behavior are To be confirmed.

Quick route recap

Reach Mushroom Village Beacon, go right, cross the rope bridge, and clear the witches if they block the route. Find the small arch, pass through it from the far side, and collect the Chapel Key from the revealed statue. Use it on the large Chapel doors and record any difference between the Beta route and the current retail build.

What should you call the key in a guide?

Use Chapel Key as the canonical item name and keep Mushroom Village Key in the title or explanatory text for search coverage. The current guide explicitly treats Mushroom Village Key as the earlier name, and the Open Beta discussion uses the same route language. This is one item route, not two separate keys with two rewards.

The route is supported by community routes that agree on the Beacon, rope bridge, witches or bonfire, arch, and revealed statue. The Open Beta client separately confirms the Chapel door function. Final naming, the exact door text, the Shrine of Trials reward, and retail differences are To be confirmed.

What should you not confuse with this key?

The nearby Mushroom Village Cage Key is a different item in the routes. It is associated with a trader and a cage, while the Chapel Key is tied to the statue route and the large Chapel doors. Keep the vendor, cost, and trader timing from the cage record out of this page.

If the current map shows another key near the village, verify the object name and lock prompt before changing the route. The confirmation supports the alias relationship and the Shrine of Trials direction, while unrelated key routes remain To be confirmed.

What is the route in one pass?

Activate the Mushroom Village Beacon, turn right, and cross the rope bridge. Move through the witches or bonfire area, find the small arch, and pass through it from the side described by the route. The statue becomes visible and holds the key on or near the rope route, after which the Chapel doors lead toward the Shrine of Trials.

The route is easy to confuse with the nearby cage key because both belong to the same village. Confirm the item name and the door prompt before marking the pickup complete. The current game version supports the alias and route, while exact trial rewards, vendor behavior, and final retail text are To be confirmed.

The safest page structure is to answer both names in the first paragraph, give the Beacon-to-statue route next, and then separate the Chapel function from the nearby cage key. This lets players who search the older term reach the same pickup without inventing a second item. Current client wording should replace the alias only when an official or version-labelled entry supports it.
