Mortal Shell 2 Patch Notes: Week 1 Update, Hotfix 3 and Beta History

Track the official Week 1 update, the PC Hotfix 3 note, and historical Open Beta builds, with platform boundaries clearly separated.

8/19/2026 Last updated: 9/3/2026 8 min read

Mortal Shell II launched worldwide on August 20, 2026, and the official Week 1 update was posted on August 29. An official community-manager post on September 1 also records a PC-only Hotfix 3. This page separates those current post-launch notes from the historical Steam Open Beta builds 86328 through 87133. A test-build change may have been revised before release, so do not merge the histories.

What is in the PC Hotfix 3 note?

The September 1 Hotfix 3 post by MikkelFromGames records PC fixes for missing Devout and Pre-Order Shell Shades, opening the world map with FSR, giant-spider traversal in the Citadel Annex, enemies failing to react, collision issues, and lens-flare or Mini-Beacon visuals. It is explicitly a PC note; it does not establish the same rollout or build for PS5 and Xbox.

Is the Week 1 update live on consoles?

The official community-manager rollout post first reported the Week 1 patch as live for the PS5 community and said Xbox players were still waiting, with availability hoped for soon. A later edit to the same official rollout post says, “The update is out on Xbox as well.” This confirms the post’s later Xbox rollout update, but it does not provide a shared console build number or prove that every player received the package at the same time. Check the installed update on the relevant platform before applying the Week 1 notes, and keep the PC-only Hotfix 3 scope separate.

What is in the official Week 1 update?

The official update adds Fragile Tarstones, Glimpse Stone, and Egon’s Stone; makes Glimpses and Tarcores non-finite; adds daytime Beacons in Fainweald and Mammon; revises rewards; and improves Tarcore returns and merchant stock. It also refines weapons, Bosses, Ripostes, enemy behavior, saves, map/UI, performance, and controls. Gorf interaction problems are listed among the fixes.

The same announcement says the update includes spoilers and gives a long list of targeted fixes, but it does not provide a complete platform-by-platform version map in the article. Keep the platform, rollout date, and client build next to any troubleshooting claim.

What is the current Malborn Offspring known issue?

The official Week 1 announcement lists a possible Malborn Offspring bug when Grisha Remnant Summon is used during the boss fight. The announcement does not specify the exact symptom, a reliable reproduction sequence, platform scope, general workaround, or fix date. Match the platform and installed build before treating a community report as the same issue.

Which patch notes are actually available?

The current full-game evidence on this page is the official Week 1 announcement plus the separate PC Hotfix 3 note. The page also lists Steam Open Beta builds and hotfixes; its latest archived Steam test build is labelled 87133, while the page states that the scope is Open Beta rather than full-game. This version boundary is more important than the individual fix list because a test-build change cannot automatically be presented as a launch feature.

The SteamDB page is only a browser-check page and does not provide usable patch content. It should be filtered out rather than treated as confirmation. The detailed change list below is a separate community archive and should be read as historical beta context.

What changed in archived build 87133?

The build 87133 description mentions balance modifications for the Lady of the Woods and changed stun behavior for her and the Tar Golem. It also records localization and text improvements. PC interface, audio, collision, Seal stun, shutdown, and gameplay-crash fixes are included in the archive.

The same route description notes the removal of a beehive from the Lady of the Woods arena and adjustments to dialogue skipping. These are described changes for that archived test build, not a guarantee about the full-game arena. Whether those changes remain in the launch version is To be confirmed.

What changed in hotfix 86724?

The 86724 archive descriptions three Target Steering modes. Default, Light, and Off. It also records cyclic inventory navigation and a sprint camera-shake slider. Those are quality-of-life and control options that can help players tune how targeting and movement feel during the test.

The same hotfix description mentions localization and Gloom-location improvements. It also records work intended to reduce patch sizes, plus attack lock-on and crash fixes. The archive does not say that these changes are the final full-game configuration, so their current status is To be confirmed.

What changed in hotfix 86328?

The earliest archived hotfix includes an option to disable rumble and improvements to Gloom drop and retrieval. It also describes new Axe & Dagger and Crossbow locations, alongside Infinite Seal and Crossbow adjustments. These notes are useful when comparing an older Steam test build with a later beta build.

The archive also lists fixes for common crashes, camera collision, health bars, Lute behavior, collisions, and Tar Golem achievement reliability. Because these changes are tied to the historical Open Beta sequence, they should not be quoted as confirmation that every launch bug has already been fixed. No entry establishes a final launch patch list.

Did consoles receive the same patches?

The archive says the Open Beta was also available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it warns that the numbered Steam descriptions should not be assigned to a console or full-game build without an official match. The console update notes date the free console beta to July 31, 2026 and describe the same broad beta reset and reward rules. They do not map each Steam build number to a console package.

For a console issue, check the current PlayStation or Xbox product page and any platform-specific update notice. Hotfix 3 is explicitly a PC note, and a PC interface option, crash fix, or balance change cannot be assumed to be present on console simply because it appears in the Steam archive. Console build correspondence is To be confirmed unless an official note supplies it.

Are these Day One patch notes?

No. The archive explicitly says that its build-by-build notes are community descriptions for Steam Open Beta public-test patches. It also tells readers to match application, platform, and build before using the information. The standard release date is listed elsewhere as August 20, 2026, but the current version does not include a verified Day One changelog.

This means a launch guide should separate three things: historical beta fixes, official full-game descriptions, and future patch notes. A beta change can explain why an older gameplay looks different without proving that the full game behaves the same way. Current full-game balance, hotfix IDs, and post-launch patch timing are To be confirmed.

How should players use this archive?

Use the archive when comparing a beta bug description, control option, or route demonstration to a specific historical test build. Match the application first, then the platform, then the build number, and finally the date displayed. If those details do not align, mark the comparison To be confirmed instead of merging the descriptions.

For current access, use the official launch-status or platform page in the current version. For current gameplay behavior, prefer a verified full-game build comparison or the official publisher note. The archive is valuable as version-aware context, but it is not a substitute for the official Week 1 update or later platform-specific notes.

What is known about Balance Patch 1?

The earlier Balance Patch 1 announcement described that update as live on PC and still pending on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the time of the announcement. Its listed areas include economy changes, enemy and Boss adjustments, weapon changes, Seal and Tarstone changes, and crash or performance fixes. The page does not provide a complete platform-by-platform changelog.

Keep the platform status beside every note. A PC change cannot automatically be applied to the console build, and a community announcement cannot replace a platform client check. The current console rollout, exact version IDs, exact values, and hotfixes after PC Hotfix 3 are To be confirmed.

What should be excluded from this archive?

The GameCross gameplay is dated 2020 and is not Mortal Shell II patch confirmation. The Pixel CTRL Labs Open Beta gameplay can show testing context, yet it does not establish a full retail changelog. SteamDB also does not provide a usable verified entry.

Use the Open Beta archive for historical build comparisons, the Week 1 announcement for the full-game update, and the PC Hotfix 3 note for its explicitly scoped fixes. Do not merge these entries into a definitive all-platform history until the official client or publisher entry confirms the change.
